Our History

The Bedgebury Foundation is funded by the proceeds from the sale of Bedgebury School buildings and estate in Kent into private ownership in 2006. Originally founded by charitable donation some 90 years prior to its closure, Bedgebury School was known for its pioneering work integrating support for those pupils with additional needs, such as dyslexia, into the standard curriculum, with positive results for students of all abilities.

The Governors of Bedgebury School set up the Bedgebury Foundation with the aim of continuing to assist children achieve access to learning through assessment and specialist support.

Over the years, the scope of the Foundation has increased to include funding for SpLD training for Teachers, TAs, Trainers and Therapists; schools are also encouraged to submit applications for enterprising and innovative projects of specific and whole school benefit. The Bedgebury Foundation makes occasional discretionary donations to community based organisations for the benefit of children and families.

Inspiring Young Minds: is now closed and will reopen in December 2026.
